Mrs Alokananda Sengupta, former Senior Principal Scientist and Head, Research Planning and Business Development, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat started her career in the field of Materials Sciences and worked in development of several desilication processes and holds 4 patents.

She has worked successfully in all aspects of Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Intellectual Property Management, Business Development, Technology Marketing, Human Resource Development, In- house Publications, Dissemination and Popularization of Science. Aggressive and planned Technology Marketing led to commercialization of more than 10 technologies with 41 technology transfers in 3 years, earning Premium of more than 1 crore rupees and royalty more than 2 lakh rupees for CSIR-NEIST Jorhat.

She has successfully completed a project on “An investigation into the Intellectual Property management practices of research institutes and universities of North East India and to prepare a wish list of technologies required for the North East”, funded by NSTMIS, DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India, which has resulted in a wish list of technologies for North East India.

Dr Pinaki Sengupta, former Chief Scientist and Head, MSTD of CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST) (Formely RRL), Jorhat has 38 years of experience in R & D in the field of Materials Sciences as well as Technology dissemination.

Some of his notable contributions in R & D are in the areas of: Oil Field Chemicals and Materials, Building Materials, Ores and Minerals, STINER Project, Rural Technology Demonstration Centre at Kimin, Arunachal Pradesh, Rural Women Technology Park in CSIR-NEIST, CSIR-Aroma Mission including some important Technology Transfer projects for both Public Sector Undertaking and Private Sector.

Dr Sengupta has published 31 research papers in International and National Journals of repute and have presented 41 papers (National: 22 and International: 19) in conferences. He has 10 patents (filed/granted) credited to him.

Dr Sengupta has also visited few countries abroad under – (a) DAAD Jr. Fellowship, TU Clausthal, Germany, June 1990 - Sept 1991, (b) The visit to Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, 630090, Russia was undertaken during 15 Nov 2017 to 03 Dec 2017 under the programme DST-RFBR joint Indo-Russian collaborative project.

During his professional career Dr Sensupta was awarded with "CSIR Technology Innovation Award 2010", conferred to NEIST Jorhat on 26 Sept 2010 by Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon'ble Min. of S & T and Vice President CSIR and Prof. Samir K. Brahmachari, DG CSIR, for being a member of the team to develop technology for "High Strength Proppant".
